Because you're a Linux geek and have a spare smartphone lying around. In my case a SMT-5600. Can't wait to try it :D

Oh Cool, now I can make those long distance calls using a command line. Hope I can SMS using vi.

i now have linux for smartphone and my trusty instructions for installing linux on a dead badger (http://www.strangehorizons.com/2004/20040405/badger.shtml), now all i need is linux for toasters and ill be all set.
