It includes 5 Views - Daily, List, Grid, Monthly, Tasks and is available for $17.95 thorugh the <a href="http://ssl.webis.net">WebIS store</a>"</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/augusto-2006.07.10-webis.pi.gif" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />I know there are a lot of individuals on the forum that have been asking for this program for a long time, and now its finally here! Motorola Q users have nothing to fear since WebIS added support for landscape screens as well!<br /><br /><b>EDIT:</b> I apologize for any confusion. It appears that SBSH and WebIS have come to an agreement, branding <a href="http://www.smartphone.net/smartphonethoughts/software_detail.asp?id=1085">Papyrus</a> [Affiliate] as Pocket Informant. Actually, if you look carefully, it's a rebranding of the latest Papyrus, not a completely new software product. ;)

That's a very strange agreement. Why rebrand an existing product? Why?

OK..thank you! I thought I was just going crazy. I said to myself, "self, this looks like Papyrus! Just like Papyrus."
Papyrus was just released today with the widescreen support also...

Hrm...different product, why give it the Pocket Informant name? That seems a bit odd...

i thought i was going crazy at first since the screensdhots looked the same but now i see have been duped :(
I have updated the post to reflect this weird agreement!
I said to myself, "self, this looks like Papyrus! Just like Papyrus."
i thought the same thing as well but I couldn't find anything out when I originally wrote the article. i figured they were just imitating papyrus, it is the sincerest form of flattery :)

Thats too bad. I was really excited about a PI for my smartphone.
Don't get me wrong, I use Papyrus and really like it. Its certainly better than the built-in calendar app.

Maybe there's something deeper in the works between SBSH and WebIS. 8O

SBSH just announced yesterday that v1.3 is available. They've added a lot of great Q support.

Marketing. PI is a brand that sells, so both Alex and Amit benefit... as long as consumers aren't confused (and turned off).

It'll be interesting to see just how much the "Pocket Informant" name pulls(as it is really only a big brand in the PPC circle). I would guess there arent going to be that many crossover PPC -> SP people that will recognize it, and a lot of the ones that do will know SBSH already, and realize its Papyrus...
So I would guess more confusion than anything especially if they are competing in the same channels....
Though Im sure Alex has some tricks/connections/bundle type things that Amit doesnt have, but... Ill be surprised if it is that many... I have no doubt they will get a few "brand loyal" people that will see the different logo and that will be all it takes, but I cant see that being enough alone to be worth it...
Could be a powerhouse if they combine coding wise, but I cant really see that happening unless one buys the other... Those kinds of "partnerships" can get messy.....
It seems like a good deal for one side of the fence, if they dont get hurt by the confusion and the product...

I think it will cause some confusion.

I think it gives WebIS a presence into the Smartphone world until they're ready with their own offering.
The trick will be to offer something with distinction when they do. Then Papyrus users will sit it as an upgrade rather than a conversion or crossover.

whats the point of making a presence when you're just selling someone elses product though. and why would people go out and buy the "new" PI when they can easily go out and get Papyrus, which has stronger brand recognition in the Smartphone universe? I find it amusing that theyre sharing and all but thats like Pepsi deciding to sell Dr. Pepper in place of regular Pepsi but still putting it in a Pepsi bottle.
confusion, confusion :(
