Is there any way I can have my sda play through my car stereo speakers? My stereo doesn't have a line out. Any other way? Thanks

does your car stereo have a cassette tape player? if so, you can buy one of those cassette players that has a mini jack in - you can then attach that to a 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack converter for your sda (the stereo converter is kind of hard to find because the common ones can only reach one up to the left channel into the jack, and you have to set your phone to play mono to have both speakers sound...). confusing? i guess you'll find out when you try. but the point is that this is how i do it, and you might want to check on that ^_^

You can use your phone thru your car stereo in one of three ways.

1 - Stereo has a line in jack

2 - If stereo has a cassette player a cassette adapter. Probably $10 or so.

3 - If neither of the above then a FM transmitter that will broadcast the audio from the phone to the FM radio in the stereo.

In my experience the quality is highest with number 1 above and lowest with 3. With any of these you'll need a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter. Should be able to get these for something like $15 or $20 from any of the usual Smartphone accessory sellers. These will handle stereo just fine and are worth the price.

Hope this helps.

Another way would be if your stereo does not have the in jack, you can take a look at the back. If your stereo has RCA in (round, like the back of a TV for VCRs, etc.) you can get an RCA to stereo cable. One end connects to the stereo (you do some wiring) and the other is there for you to convert to mini. You can also do the same with an amp.

i connect my 2125 via the cassette player. you can find the 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapters from Radio Shack for $4. it might not be the prettiest setup, but it works :)

Unfortunately my truck is new enough it doesn't have a cassette - just cd.

If you don't have the casette player, here's another method. I can't vouch for it, but it's another idea....

Get the converter to output the headphone jack (2.5mm-3.5mm?)
Find a mp3 radio transmitter like this:
http://www.nextag.com/SoundKase-FM-Transmitter-for-83151246/prices-html
- This is a device designed to plug into an MP3 player and transmit it on the radio waves locally for your radio, most people still have a radio...
Phone>adapter>transmitter>radio
I figure it's worth a shot. You should be able to get a transmitter for around $20-30 on ebay.

$20-$30 on ebay? Amazon has this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?link_code=ur2&tag=smartphonetho-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fproduct%2FB00023XKIO%2Fsr%3D8-8%2Fqid%3D1153442407%2Fref%3Dpd_bbs_8%3Fie%3DUTF8) for $13 or this Belkin model (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?link_code=ur2&tag=smartphonetho-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fproduct%2FB0001FV2YM%2Fsr%3D8-6%2Fqid%3D1153442407%2Fref%3Dpd_bbs_6%3Fie%3DUTF8) for $30. Might as well buy new for $13 - unless ebay has them dirt cheap. [Affiliate links]

Really, cool. I was giving a random guess from seeing them several months ago. Cool, I'm glad I'm out of date on that.

Will you people please stop using your phones as music players! This only encourages the manufacturers to put more silly media buttons on the phones. STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT in the name of humanity!

Hey, I use the ones on my Tornado just fine after I mapped them for TCPMP...I don't like them all over the place, but I don't mind the ones I have. So there. ;-)

Well, we all know that the manufacturers aren't putting in the features we want anyway. Surely they aren't listening now when it comes to music. They haven't listened yet, so why start now.

Sorry...can't stop. My MP3 player (cingular 2125) is also a pretty good phone / PDA. I use the cassette adapter in my car and the quality is great. I did have to buy an adapter (Radio Shack) that has a separate volume control....had problems with distortion turning volume up on the phone. The FM transmitters worked but offered significantly less quality (kind of like a radio station that won't tune in very well).

I completely agree!!! My SDA keyboard space was gobbled up with media keys I NEVER USE. I wish I could buy a replacement keyboard to make the regular 1-9 keys bigger on an SDA and ditch the media keys. Anyone know if such a replacement exits?
