Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any GPS software available for Smartphone (Windows-based) that records the distance you traveled (ie. odometer feature)? There are a few available for PDAs but I haven't found any for the humble smartphone...

Have you looked at GPSdash (http://wimobi.com/gpsdash/overview.sph2.php?pid=sph2)?

I was just looking at this last night, as I'm considering going from a Dell Axim X50v with BT GPS and iGuidance, to a Smartphone--at least for my wife.

There were at least a few of the bigger names out there (can't remember who right now) with Smartphone versions of their GPS software, but they were quite expensive. (Approx $200. to $300. for the software.) My iGuidance software is about $100., and I love it. But, they don't make it for Smartphone.

I'd love to hear from people who use their Smarthphones for GPS and what their experiences were with the various software options. :?:

I use Mapopolis on both my smartphones and PPCs. The nice thing is the navigation software is free for whatever platform, you buy the map data, which is the same for both.

Oooh, I hadn't seen that one! I'll have to give it a go. Thanks!

As to Mapopolis, I tried it out at the weekend - took a few attempts to get it installed, for some reason. No maps of my area on trial, so I put on the London one, just so I could launch the application and try out the speed / compass part of it. Worked well!
