Hi,

I've recently purchased a WM 5.0-based smartphone and I've just updated my ROM to v2.0.9 (for push email and the like). I copied all the text messages off my phone by hand (ie. typed them into an editor) as I was afraid ActiveSync wouldn't back them up. Sure enough, it didn't.

Are there any applications that allow you to back up your text messages for WM 5.0-based phones? I've been looking around but haven't found anything yet. I would have copied the relevant folder off the phone but I couldn't figure out where they were :(

TIA!

what phone did you get? I think you've got the wrong ROM version listed. ;)

Anyway; No. ActiveSync doesn't touch your text messages. It also doesn't back up your home screens, ringtones, etc... As for a text message backup tool, I think Jeyo has one. Here's a link --> http://www.smartphone.net/smartphonethoughts/software_detail.asp?id=627 [Affiliate]

This is the one I use to deal with all SMS. It works in Outlook and runs fine even in the new office beta version of outlook.

Made by the same folks, Jeyo, that Mike mentioned.

Cheers - I'll give them a try! My phone's a Vodafone V1240 (Qtek 8310). I updated the ROM to the AKU2 version (which after one crash - and a near panic on my part - did update successfully). I used to use MobilEdit! for backing up texts but it doesn't support my phone (or WM 5.0 in general).
