VM indicator won't turn off

I've had my 2125 for about four months and this is the first time the voicemail indicator will not turn off. I received and then deleted a voicemail message yesterday, but the indicator remains at the top of the home screen. The recording says there are no messages. I have turned the phone off several times and even removed the battery for a minute.

I've got the feeling I missed something simple. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

If I recall, this has something to do with a corrupt file. The VM counter is stored in a file someplace. You can delete this file and it will be recreated when another call comes in. Sorry I can't recall much more. But maybe a search would help.

Also, have you attempted to leave yourself some VM to see if that will correct things?

I've had this happen from time to time. Usually clears up in a few hours. Are you with Cingular?

I am on Cingular.

Sending myself a voicemail did the trick. I'm a little embarrassed I didn't think of that on my own. But it's corrected.

I bet that was a cingular error not your device.

Those tools have had that problem for years. :)

I get it off and on on my MPX220. I do exactly that, leave myself a message like "Cingular needs to fix their voicemail counter still". retrieve, delete and it clears
