View Full Version : 2125 Does Not Have .NET Framework Installed?
Using Visual Studio 2005, I created a simple executable targeted for the Compact Framework. I copied the exe to my phone (Cingular 2125 purchased last month), tried to run it, and got the message that I need a newer version of the Framework than what is installed.
So then I downloaded the latest .NET Compact Framework MSI from Microsoft, double-clicked it, and got a message that it is already installed, but it never touched my phone.
What gives?
Thanks.

Windows Mobile 5 was released before .Net CF2 was completed. .Net CF2 is what Visual Studio 2005 uses. Even though you might have purchased your phone last month, Windows Mobile 5 was released to ODMs in March of 2005. .Net CF2 was released around August of 2005. However the .NET CF2 is larger than 1.1 so it has not been made part of a AKU build and even if it was, the chances of the carriers testing and deploying that option are slim. Just look at how many decided to leave out A2DP.
Anyway, make sure you download .Net CF2 and you should be fine. ;)
I think I'm pretty smart. But I have not found an installer-executable that will install the .NET 2.0 runtime on the phone. Where can I get it? I have Visual Studio 2005 as well as the 2.0 SDK on my PC. But I haven't seen a CAB to copy to the phone to run, or anything else.
Help?

I can't install that because I already have Visual Studio 2005 and the Compact Framework SDK installed. If I go to add/remove programs and select the Compact Framework runtime, WinXp throws an error related to a dependency (which I assume is related to one of the major installs I already did).
So....
It sounds like I need to open the MSI some way and copy the CAB to the phone and then execute it from there. Is that right? And if so, when I crack open the MSI how do I know the correct thing for the Cingular 2125 WM5?
Thanks.
