Verizon Wireless will have an exclusive on the thin-line PDA at launch, but consumers will have to wait at least a little longer"</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Jerry-MotoQ.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />I hate to beat a dead horse but this one is just so much fun. More bad news for the Q. We already knew it was gonna be late but MIA from the CTIA? I think "wait at least a little longer" is the understatement of the year. MIA should read DOA. RIP Moto Q.

Told you it would be several months before the Q sees the light of day! Evidently the Q isn't even ready to be demoed.

No problem here! I am very happy with my new 8125. I was looking forward to the Q but can't wait. I perceive that by the time the Q hits the market (really?) it won't have one. Also, I prefer the functionality of the 8125 over a smartphone: full WM5, moe memory (for time being), could re-download all programs (but no Worldmate Std - bad bad boys as they do not support WM5 unless you buy the more expensive option) and data from my 4705 (transfer from SD to mini-SD), nice keypad for big-thumb impaired, and it really works (almost) everywhere.

i guess the "Q" stands for "question" as in "when the heck will this phone ever be released?"

Jerry, you are such a good "troll". We should have a contest, who can beat a dead horse better: Ed on PalmSource or you on Motorola...

Seriously: I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon is partially at fault here. They're notorious on needing tons of testing. Not that Motorola has historically helped them (v710, anyone?)

 I would love to see a post-off between these two heavy-weights. Ed is pretty good with the Bluetooth posts too. Oh, this would be funny to see. :D

Yes, you're right. Perhaps we can have them do a tandem on the v710's Bluetooth, which is arguably the worst. :)

I have to admit I am not living in this world. Somehow I had missed the news about Motorola Scalpel.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/zd/20060331/tc_zd/174801

"7. The rogues' gallery. There's a whole list of specific phones that folks have been waiting for. How about Motorola's Q, their RAZR-thin, Blackberry-like smartphone? Nokia's N91, with its 4GB hard drive, or a U.S. version of its N92 TV-phone? The Palm 700p, a high-speed Treo with Palm OS? How about Motorola's V3i, the next generation RAZR with iTunes? Or its proposed "Scalpel" phone which CEO Ed Zander mentioned at CES in January? Will anyone compete with Sony Ericsson's newly-announced 3.2-megapixel cameraphone? I'll be on the hunt, and I'll report back starting Tuesday, April 5."

So this is what is keeping Moto busy these days. And maybe that is why Moto Q is slipping.

Interesting comment. If you were to go over to Treocentral and read about the 700w, you would get the opposite impression. As a matter of fact, you would get the sense that the 700w is the second coming of the MPx: Way to many bugs, crippled features, a carrier that doesn't care, etc, etc.

Hmm. I'm working on a detailed 700w review right now, and overall, I think it's a pretty stable device. Of course, I come from a Pocket PC power user perspective; PalmOS users may think differently because they're used to a different set of usage scenarios.

The v710, on the other hand, was notorious for poor earpiece volume, a misaligned camera that gave terrible pictures, and mis-advertised Bluetooth functionality. The Treo doesn't suffer from any of these (well, the BT is crippled, but it was advertised as being such).
