In this strategic tank artillery duel you battle against computers or friends on 25 different landscapes. Players take turns aiming and firing at each other with over 85 weapons of mass destruction including nuclear bombs. You can blast your enemy with a vast array of weapons. Some weapons create landmasses you can use to your tactical advantage to hide behind as cover. Your arsenal is outfitted with numerous types of weapons including guns, bombs, missiles, rockets, and nukes."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-200306-Atomic.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />If you have a history with "scorched earth" then you might be interested in hearing about this new beta. I spent a lot of time in the past scorching the earth and I'm trilled at the idea of doing this from my phone. It's amazing how much better then graphics are than the PC version I played 5 or 6 years ago. The Smartphone version is currently in beta - you've been warned. Now, I'm off to play a couple games. :D

OMG,
I only played for about 2 minutes and with no sound, but that game looks AWESOME!!!!
In the early 90's, I killed many hours in the Navy playing Scorced Earth on our calibration lab pc while we were at sea :) That game brings back memories.

I have never paid money for a game for my PPC or Smartphone (nor do I use pirated versions, people that do that should be :twak: ), so far I have gotten away with what came with the phone.
This will probably be the first game I buy.

:rock on dude!:

I also love this game but unfortunately, I could not install it properly on my QTEK 8310. I tried to install the game on my mini SD card but got a message, "Your phone does not have enough memory to install this program"???I got atleast 25 MB to run the programs and 5-7MB to store programs???Moreover I was trying to install it on my memory card anyways?? Not sure, but even when I cancelled the installation (technically, it stopped installing after the mem warning), I kept on getting low memory message. Soft reset resolved this issue. I tried again installing assuming I had few other programs running the first time around which may have caused low mem warning but no success. Has anyone able to install this great game on their smartphone running wm5?
Thanks!

No time to type, too busy blowing things up :)
Got home and tried the game with sound, it is really cool.
Gonna' wait until the Smartphone version is out of Beta status and purchase it.
If you have ever played Scorched Earth, the game is probably much easier to start playing. The controls are very intuitive.

Hello everyone,

SPPassion:
I have seen several times when testing when you tell ActiveSync to install in one location, then later change that location and install in a different location, it installs it in the first location (if this makes sense). How much room do you have on your storage card? The demo should only require about 3.4 MB.

If you would like to try installing it manually explore to C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Atomic Cannon Demo SP\ on your desktop and then copy the .cab file over to your SP, then click on it using explorer on your SP.

EVERYONE
If you have tested the game successfully on your device PLEASE EMAIL (http://www.isotope244.com/contact.html) me your device manf and model number. As a thank you I will select a few testers and give them the game for FREE :)

Also do you guys like the controls? This is the first SP game I have made, I tried to make them easy to use. Are the numberpad controls easy enough?

Hi James,

I have over 640MB available on my SD card. I did try method you described but got the same message. I am going to dig into registry tonite as sometimes, unsuccessfully installed/or not installed programs still leaves an imprint in the registry. I got to get this game work as I love the "original" game. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks

SPPassion - have you fully unlocked your device? Just a thought that there might be a app lock at some level that is causing you pain.

OMG. My productivity is so screwed now.

Scorched Earth is why gaming was banned from my local university computer lab when I was in school. We made so much freaking noise playing it :)

Thanks Mike for trying to help me. My device is fully unlocked. Under HKLM>apps , I did find a registry entry for Isotope244 Graphics. I deleted that entry. Soft reset the phone, extracted the cab file from activesynch folder and it installed just fine...and I have already spent an hour to "just check the game" :D
James, I did send you my email/device info from your website by completing the contact form.
Thanks everybody for your help.

Found a small bug. :( Stay out of the About box - there's no way to close it and get back to the game. I pressed every button on my phone - twice! I resorted to pushing the "Launch IE" button (Thankfully I have a SP5m :) ) and it jumped out to IE. And then I was able to run Task Manager and kill the task.

Otherwise, I'm loving this game!

The lack of joystick support on my T-Mobile US SDA is frustrating. Trying to read the small font at the bottom of the screen was causing me eye strain.

"The lack of joystick support on my T-Mobile US SDA is frustrating. Trying to read the small font at the bottom of the screen was causing me eye strain."

I have added the ability to customize the controls, even the direction pad now. (dont try this in the current version as it doesn't work)

There is not much room to put text, would you rather just have power, angle, and the current weapon in big text and remove the other text?

"Found a small bug. Stay out of the About box "

this is fixed for the next version :)

There is not much room to put text, would you rather just have power, angle, and the current weapon in big text and remove the other text?Removing the redundant controls (assuming things are mapped to the joystick/d-pad) would help. Use the softkey to bring up a menu for weapon selection, so you can use a larger font. Keep the numbers as "hotkeys" even if that menu isn't up for the power players.
