I can’t seem to figure out how to switch the “view” from icon view to list view

i.e. when you press the “start” key - everything is sorted via icon view (messaging, contacts, calendar, etc.)

I prefer a list view

any ideas?

Go back to a WM2003 device ;) The new view is actually optional for the vendor as I understand it, but it seems all of them chose to implement that way. Not user selectable. You do realize that the button you press to launch an app is physically associated with where the icon is. Hard to explain in words, but that means the top right button (3) launches the top right app, The center app is launched with the center button (5). I find it easier not having to scroll or look at the number in the list. Actually you get one more item than you did with the list. There were 9 items but 9 was always "More". With the icons you get 9 apps and "More" is a soft key.

Actually, you don't need a CAB file to switch the setting, just the registry location and a good registry editor.

My SP5m came with a utility in the accessories menu that does this for me. So I don't need any registry changes. I can just run this app, and it's done. Run it again, and it's back.

Can I ask why you want to go back to the old way? Did you know that the keypad still maps to the different applications?

Wow, learn something every day. I recalled seeing the new icon based option and knew it was a manufacturer choice. The emulators even default to the icons. Hadn't seen any mention of hacks to change it and figured you were stuck. Funny that my SP5 doesn't offer the option. (other than reg hacking, I suppose). Still, I like the new way.

The latest version of Tweaks2k2 (http://www.tweaks2k2.com/) also will change it.
