I just got an smt5600 off ebay that has Windows Mobile 5. It came with an active sync cable etc. When i go to connect it to active sync, it doesn't recognize. But right when i put the cable in it does the new hardware wizard and then can't find the software on the computer to make the hardware operate properly. It says like Generic RDIS (remember to change vendor name). It's not the activesync or the cable because I have an mpx200 and when i hook it up it does everything perfectly. What do you guys think is wrong. I wish I could hook it up via Bluetooh but my x40 doesnt have bluetooh. I think its as simple as me getting the drivers for the phone which makes no sense to me but if someone could help me it'd be much appreciated. I also want to change the 310410 to Cingular and i know i need to go into the registry to do that. I assume when I see the phone in my computer I will be able to go into the registry? Thanks in advance.

Well, considering there is no official update for the 5600 to get Windows MObile 5, your problem might not be as easy as you think. It could be a broken ROM image.

The only suggestion I can offer you is to make sure you have the latest version of ActiveSync. There's no "drivers" that need to be installed on your computer. Good luck.

Ya, I have the latest version of ActiveSync. This was actually a new computer so i had to download it. The other weird thing is that my contacts which are saved to my sim dont go in as contacts, i mean they do but you can't add to them and theyre not searchable.

Does your USB cable power the 5600? If not then get the lates driver of Audiovox's site. I am assuming that you restarted your computer and 5600 before you tried to Sync. One other thing you can do is try to infared between your Laptop and SMT5600.

The drivers from Audiovox's site won't do much good, since the phone has been flashed to WinMo5. I can't see these drivers making any difference.
