This looks great! It doesn't support QVGA yet, so me and my 2125 are out of luck but that will be coming soon. In the mean time this free beta is good until March and then the final product will sell for $14.95 the site says. Did I mention it is RPN? :)

How come? Doesn't the smartphone just pixel double for most standard apps just like a VGA PPC? Gotta jump through hoops to even get to real VGA on a PPC, unless the app is specifically written to take advantage of the "high" res. I would have expected something similar on the QVGA SP. (I'll know in a couple of days. Got an SP5 on order)

I wish it worked that well. I've seen some strange displays on my 2125 with apps that weren't redone for QVGA. Others just worked fine.

Nah, unfortunately it doesn't work like that. We didn't double our screen size. We went from 172x220 to 240x320 If you doubled things, it would end up being too large. :-(
Congrats on the SP5. Let us know how you like it. 8)

Hmm, well that will be interesting then to see what does work and what doesn't. For those that didn't come from a PPC world, or hadn't played with VGA PPCs, essentialy they show the same info as a regular QVGA PPC, but much more crisply, using twice as many pixels. There are some advantages in that you can do some custom font sizing to get a bit more info or a bit bigger font smoothly, but for the most part the basic display is about the same, info-wise. There are hacks to force "true VGA" but some programs that are not size aware just wind up in the top left qudrant of the screen. Otherwise you get a display that all the elements are 1/4 the size they used to be. Doesn't work well for some of us old folks. Yea, you get twice as many rows and columns on a spreadsheet, but the numbers are too small for me to read, for example.

In my expereince, this is what ends up happening on the QVGA Smartphones. Now, I have tried to avoid installing non-WinMo5 apps. If the developer doesn't list WinMo5, then I won't install it.

Bet that's some tiny text. Good to know. Anyone stuck Pocket Streets and/or Mapopolis on a QVGA phone?
