We have heard rumblings of no GSM Q here and there before. I do enjoy the chaos Motorola seems to generate in all aspects of its Smartphones. Here is some more uncertainty for you to chew on. Personally I think Motorola would be out of their minds not to release a GSM version of the Q. Makes it a possibility doesn't it?

I would bet that it's not Moto that has cancelled the GSM version. I think it's more like a carrier has cancelled carrying the GSM version. Then someone picks up on that story and things get twisted around and before you know it, the story has changed to Moto cancells the Q. ;)
Just my guess, but I think we'll see this available in every possible version you can imagine - and then some. Just like th RAZR. :D

I hope so, I would really like to see this thing come to life. I'll even buy one if it comes to Cingular! Maybe Moto would give me one. What do ya think?

they should also issue an official apology for the mpx220 ;)

I think Motorola needs to simply stop trying to make phones with PDA integration. While I haven't had any problems with my mpx 220, stories abound on it's issues. My mpx 300 was slow and bulky, and the Q has never held any interest for me. I wonder if they get the product designers that even HP rejects working for them...

One thing I never got is why the MPx never got out of preproduction stage? I reckon that will a little more memory (cmon, 32Mb? ) that PDA Phone would have been a killer.
The Q looks nice. Is it just me, or does it look extraordinarily wide? :?:

It is, but most of it is because it is extremely thin. The thin-ness makes it looks wide. Well that's my take on it. ;-)

Its exactly the same with the iPod Video. I thought it was wider than the originals, but its thinness (about half of the iPod Photo) makes it look that way.

I don't think Moto would have cancelled the Q for GSM. It is too big of a market to bail out of. Maybe they cancelled the non-EDGE or EDGE version to move it up to the next level, like what engadget is suggesting.
In fact only yesterday Ed Zander was CNBC in the morning, and talking about Motorola and the new products that will help capture bigger market share. When asked about competitors emulating the RAZR, he said something to the effect that his company is innovating and showed off Moto Q as the next big thing. I don't think Moto is going to make a dent with Q on the Verizon network, if anything the VZ network is only going to maim the Q and result in bad product reviews.
Update: For those of you folks who are lucky to have WSJ Online access. Check out the CNBC interview over here. (http://tinyurl.com/862ed)
Ed was touting the video and audio capabilities of the Q in response to a question - What if Apple were to come out with a iPod or iTunes phone?

Having held one, I can say it's not as wide as you think. It's about the same as the KJam. Check out this article from Mobile Burn (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9855&highlight=motorola++mobius) - the second page has a picture along side the RAZR.

I'm working on a post that will show off the true size of the Q. Watch the front page - it should be up on Monday morning or so.

That scares me more than Moto messing the phone up. I guess now Verizon won't be sending me presents either.

i think we're still gonna see the GSM version of the phone. my guess would be that maybe a carrier related deal on a CDMA network didnt work out and from there blew up to "its cancelled".
for motorola to just up and cancel this device, especially the GSM version, would be a huge mistake. they have already showed it at tons of conventions and you have heard nothing but good things about this device... unlike other moto devices.
to just up and abandon it would be retarded and im sure in a few days we'll hear the truth about what is really going on, like the SBC/AT&T buyout that had everyone convinced Cingular was going to be renamed AT&T Wireless ;)
hopefully when moto does make an official announcment... they will apologize for the mpx220 as well and apologize for not releasing the mpx100, i actually was looking forward to that device.

I doubt Moto would even admit there ever was an MPx220.
