Just answer a couple questions and then click agree to the whatever it was the lawyers had to say, and then you're off downloading 4 free ringtones. They're all just over 20 seconds in length, and the sound is pretty nice. I think I'm going to use the "Blues" ringtone for my email notification sound. :D

Rave's kinda cool. Not that I'm into raves or anything of the sort, mind you. ;)

Mike, how loud are these on your phone? I downloaded them last week, but it didn't seem all that loud. It's either the ringtones or my phone, or maybe my ears. ;)

They're fairly loud on my SMT5600. They're louder in the Settings applet than in WMP, though.

What crap. Screw that, just make your own ringer from your fav mp3. Not only are those wm-encoded files encoded at a low bit rate, but they suck.

Cool ringer idea - check out Juliette Shoppmann - Only Uh Uh; the first 30 sec sounds pretty cool as a ringer; people always say something about it or laugh.

Hmm, I might have to tweak a few settings then.

It could just be the fact that I'm used to ear-popping MIDIs.

f540xs, please watch your language. Creative spelling doesn't change things. ;) Thanks.

Not everyone has the time or cares enough to make their own ringtone. The ringtone business is growing rapidly - which just proves thst not everyone is interested in making their own.

I usually make mine, but I found these and they are pretty good, and free!

Do ringers still have to reside on the device memory or can they be put on the storage card? I'm only @ 9mb on my handset with all the crappola I like to put on it I'll be out in no time.

I feel like such a Dufus having to ask this question, but how do I change my ringtone to one of these on the 5600? I've copied them to the My Sounds folder, but am not sure what to do next.

Those ringtones sound bad because of their low bitrate(that is 20kbps)
64kbps would have been much better

Start \ Settings \ Sounds \

And then change the item you want. ;)

I think there is a hack out there someplace that allows this, but it's not really a good move. Memory cards are slow, much slower than the RAM in the device. So, when your phone rings it could cause problems because it will take longer to retreive the sound file.

Yes, that is where I went to make the changes. My problem is that the 4 new ringtones do not show up in the list and I don't know how to either 1) point to the new location of the 4 files, or 2) get the 4 new files in the same location of the default ring tones.
