Bill's keynote is over and you can read all about it over here in Jason's summary. (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10027&highlight=) Once you're done reading about all the cool things, you might want to take a look at this collection of pictures. The images are not high quality, but they are the best I was able to snap while watching the keynote webcast. :D

This looks a lot like the SMT5600, if so, I am guessing that it is running WM5. When watching the clip, enlarge your screen... you can get a slightly better view.

Very cool presentation non the less, I like the ideas that they presented. The display of the desk with the 3 working panes might have been a bit much (desk space wise), but very cool work environment non the less. I can imagine a systems administrator and some developers making excellant use of that work space.

I also thought the touch screen that he showed at the beginning was interesting, being able to have information like that and the interaction with mobile devices that was demonstrated was pretty neat.

Does anyone else find it more than amusing, that on the verge of Verizon's release of the T700w, Bill is up there playing with an i-mate that's not even connected to any carrier? Do you think Bill cares that service comes from Dubai?

To be fair, he did handle a Audiovox SMT5600 and Treo 700w as well. The i-mate was displayed for the shortest amount of time. It was a quick hand movement showing the concept of taking video's with you.

i-mate is a major partner in Microsoft's efforts in the phone arena. They help get phones into the hands of people whose carriers don't carry Windows Mobile. And that's a good thing. Let me pick the phone and then I'll pick the service I want to use it on. 8)

No joke, in my cubicle at work, I currently have 42", 20", and 17" LCD displays on my desk. (And yes, they're all hooked up to my PC.) Next week they're giving me a couple 15" touch screen LCDs to play with.

I'm not even the IT guy!

I have a headache like you would not believe. Do not use a 42" display from 24" away. 8O

That's a lot of screen real estate. We all dream about having a massive layout of flat panelage in front of us -- but is that really comfortable? Isn't that a lot of head movement?

Yeah. Two or three 20" displays is really the practical limit, beyond that, the constant movement wears on the eyes and neck. I develop factory display content on the 42" LCD panel, but don't use it for much else as it's just painful (literally). After an hour or so my eyes hurt, I need a shoulder massage, and I have a massive headache.

It's great for watching high-definition WMV videos from the cube across the aisle though.
