I don't know about you guys, but I think all of these pictures show pain, suffering, death, and destruction. Far from the best pictures, IMHO. :roll:

But that capture them well and that's what makes them good I guess.
But to your point, wasn't there anything good that was worth photographing this past year?

Alright, I found this collection by MSNBC. There are two sets of pictures, the Editors Choice and the Readers Choice. Both sets of pictures have some overlap, and both sets also feature some pictures from the happier side of the year. IMHO, both sets are miles better than the Time collection.

Warning - The Editors Choice can be a little graphic.
