It is sexy, stylish and dressed to impress. It exudes quiet confidence, stability and reliability… even before it’s turned on. The i-Mate family of phones is produced by HTC, and marketed under various different names. The SP5 is the latest evolution of the SP3 and SP3i, along with its musical sibling, the SP5m. The SP5 is similar in size to the SP3, being only a whisker longer. Weigh in on the kitchen scales is 110gms sans extras."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Jerry-imatesp5.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />I like this phone. I might even want this phone. Here is a review of it you might want to take a look at.

I want - but not for the amount of money I would to spend to get it. Oh why is it taking so long for T-Mobile to launch this here in the states?!?!?

Why didn't Cingular choose this beautiful Smartphone isntead of the Quasimodo HumpPhone. :(

That is the 64000 dollar question.

I switched to the SP5 from my SP3 after trying and rejecting the K-Jam (with Keyboard). Could not be happier.

I just did a 6 day whirlwind trip to Asia from OZ using the phone. Only needed to charge it once. Great Battery life.

I loved the ability to use WIFI. Rather than reading local newspaper at breakfast I was reading the website of my local broadsheet back in oz (www.theage.com.au - they even have a text version). Most of the hotels we use have WIFI (some you have to pay for some are complementary)

No problem with reception etc. Picked up all networks in China, Hongkong, Thailand. Even got an SMS welcoming me to Thailand with a 10% discount on Duty Free on the way out at the airport which i used.

Even bought a 1gb Mini SD Card on HK for $HK460 (AUD$ = 80 / US$ = 60)

If only I could find one of those sexy rubber covers to fit....

I definitely want this one. But the price is steep. So I am waiting to see if T-Mobile will launch the one with the "hump" anytime soon. Will wait till Xmas. And then I might have to make some decisions.

This is the phone I have been waiting for! (and waiting and waitng..) I would prefer the I-mate version over the Q-tek (I have heard the support on the imate website is great, anyone hear anything to the contrary?). Now if only they would let my buy it…

Price is steep, but it is what I want and I don’t have to deal with my carrier. If I were to wait for T-Mo or Cing to release the device it would be ancient by the time they rolled it out, and/or I would have to see what they disabled or ‘tweaked’ as previous carriers have done with some of the new devices. Worth it in my book, as long as it is a solid performing device. Time will tell though.

Probably have to wait till the new year, but I have already waiting 6+ months, another will hardly kill me.

I have an i-mate SP3i. And I like the support on the website. But from what I have heard in the forums, if you have a hardware issue, then it is a little tough. It is not like the carriers, where you can walk in to the local store. ;-)

The problem is that now Cingular does not offer insurance for phones over $250.

That sucks you are stuck w the one year crap warranty that only gives you a refurbished phone that lasts only weeks.

To add my experience; the iMate website support is dreadful, everytime I have reach a person the conversation has been disconnected, and it takes them 5-7 business days to reply to a clearly written email inquiry.

And their response is likely to be a very basic questions which I have already provided in my original inquiry.
