We have managed to get our hands on some promotional material for the new Windows Mobile 5 Cingular 2125 Smartphone. You can expect this device to start showing up in stores sometime over the course of the coming weeks. I don't know what day will be the official release day, but it will start showing up very soon. ;) Next up, I have some price information for you. I know we've seen some suggested prices already, but these are as close to official as you can get considering the phone has not actually launched yet. The phone will sell for $399.99 without a contract. If you add a 1 year contract the price drops to $349.99 and a 2 year plan will drop the plan to $299.99. There is also a $100 mail-in rebate, bringing the price down to $249.99 and $199.99. :D Finally, we also got our hands on this pretty little flyer showing off the new 2125 - with it's Quasimodo style hump and all. You should start to find this flyer in your local store by the end of the week. <a href="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-20051204-Cingular2125Flyer-L.jpg"><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-20051204-Cingular2125Flyer.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/></a><i>Click on the image to see a larger version. The hump doesn't look that bad from the front. I think it is from the back that it looks terrible. :)

The other point: the flyer talks about "Advanced messaging and security capabilities...". Does that mean it comes with the MSFP? :?

The one I'm using doesn't appear to have the MSFP installed, but I could be wrong. Any thoughts on how to tell?

I believe from the OS build version.

Adoption Kit Unit (AKU) 2.0 is supposed to include MSFP and A2DP (stereo Bluetooth headset profile).

We know that AKU 1.1 which is on SP5 has a build number of 14402 or greater. But I don't remember seeing build number for the AKU 2.0. :(

Does it have Bluetooth stereo profile?

dont forget, that $100 mail-in is only if you get the unlimited data plan to go witht he phone ;)

for the advance messaging capabilities they are most likely refering to the combination of outlook, xpress mail, goodlink and msn messanger all built into the phone. they did the same thing when they released the 5600 (minus the goodlink).

what caught my eye on the flyer was the microsoft office mobile functionality statement. does that mean microsoft is porting office to the smartphone? does the cingular version come with clearvue? oh im so excitied :P 8O :o

Sure - set up a bogus Exchange account, and then check the "schedule" options to see if you have a sync option for "As items arrive". This would indicate MSFP.

My information indicates that this will not come with the phone, but will be released Q106 (when just about everyone releases AKU2).

Well, Cingular has offered ClearVue in the past, and you might find this rumor (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9641) a little interesting. ;)

Doesn't Windows Mobile 5.0 have a better version of Office mobile? Or is just for Pocket PC devices.

The PPC versions got an update. We didn't get anything on the SP side. :(

I just saw the phone listed on the Cingular site for Los Angeles.

Not on my zip code. Noticed that even engadget was talking about this mysterious UFO sighting.

Hopefully tonight or early tomorrow morning it will be on their web site for good.
