I was replying to the XM thread.....I clicked submit, then closed the window.

At least 100 IE SmartphoneThoughts windows opened up to the point that I needed to force a shutdown.

Havn't seen that since my AOL days.

I haven't noticed anything like that before. I know Jason doesn't allow any ads that pop up or under. So it wouldn't be that. I'm sure you check regularly, but the only thing I can think of would be some sort of spyware on your machine.

:?

probably....my SpywareDoctor just expired two weeks ago...I need to renew.

Unless someone can recommend a better option.

Bizarre. Never seen anything like that before, and I access the site with both IE and Firefox. I'd chalk it up to a one-time glitch.

I didnt really think it was something here...just wondered if anyone saw it before.

I'd really love to reformat my whole disk....but I bought my pc off the shelf and only have an upgrade to XPPro.

Maybe after Christmas.

You can reformat the drive, and using the XP Pro upgrade it will carry along merrily until it asks you for proof of a prior version - keeping in mind that basically ANYTHING will do (Windows 95, 98, ME, etc.) you should be able to find/borrow something that will work.

Ah. Thanks. I thought it wanted a version to be installed already before upgrading. Didnt know I could use the upgrade right from a newly formatted disk. Thanks.

Yeah, it's a common misconception. In fact, the "install then upgrade" is the single worst possible way to go about putting XP on your computer. I think a lot of the problems that people have with XP are from them installing Windows 98 then installing XP on top of that. It's just asking for trouble, but ultimately it's Microsoft's fault for not doing a wipe-and-install for the customer.

100's of SPT windows pop up on my screen. This is the only forum it happens on AFAIK.

I'm using IE. If you can make it happen on your PC, let everyone know.

I'm going to do it again after I post here.

hey encece, does this still happen for you?

I had a similiar thing happen the other day. I had my thumb on the ALT key, getting ready to close the window after the post was made. However, I wasn't fast enough and it popped open a couple new windows. Could it be related to a stuck key or mouse button? Maybe?

My Hard Drive died and I installed a new 100GB HD into my laptop. After reinstalling everything, my pop-up window problem is gone. :)

:? Well, that's weird. I wonder what was going on? On the plus side, everything is better, and you've now got 100GB in your laptop! 8O Kind of makes my 60GB look small. :(
