The survey showed that 1 in 3 mobile devices (notebooks, smartphones, etc) are not protected by a simple password or lock. Coupled with the increasing amount of data being stored on these devices by corporate personnel, well, you do the math. More and more devices are going missing, along with the valuable information they store. This year, 22% of the people surveyed said they had lost their notebook or smartphone at some point; 81% of those confessed to not encrypting the data stored therein."</i><br /><br />Alright, I confess! I fall into the 1 in 3 category. I don't have any <i>real</i> protection on my Smartphone. I just use the basic keypad lock. You know, the one that doesn't require a password to unlock it. Maybe if I had the remote wipe capability, then I would be more inclined to secure the phone, but right now, what's the worst that can happen? The thief calls my friends and family?

I have never quite grasped the need for security. I am an easy goer. Plus for me I think more than the data, I am worried about the loss of hardware.

If remote super-wipe or 3-incorrect-passwords will destroy the hardware so that no else can use it. Then I might put the password on it. ;-) I want something like the ink-tags on the clothes in the stores. If someone tries to steal the clothes and take the tag off, it sprays ink. I want something like that for the Smartphone.

Enough jokes. I want GPS sensors to be standard on all the phones. So that I can find out where I left it.

Best. Response. Ever. 8O

Oh, and I'm in that 1 of 3 as well. I lock my keypad, and have a PIN lock when I turn my phone on though.
