Static in the backround?

Hello,
I just received my SMT5600 and everytime I get a phone call, I can hear a type of static in the backround. It doesnt matter what area I am in. It sounds like a high hissing noise.

Are there any fixes to this problem? Has anyone else had this problem?

I haven't heard of any sound related problems with this model. But depending on the carrier and the location, you might have some problems.

Do you think I should contact them, or will it be pointless?

see if you can duplicate this problem with one of the store's smt 5600s while your return/exchange privilege still exists.

I'm in Los Angeles with Cingular, same phone. No problems like that. Trying another phone at a Cingular store is a good idea. I would go with a corporate store as well.

Audiovox/UTC customer service is 800 229 1235: push 1 twice ask for the pda experts in Canada. They consider the smt 5600 a pda. If one person doesn't have the right answer, try again - some are more knowlegable/helpful than others.

If you need real tech help from Cingular ask for the real "tech/pda experts".
They have a higher level of expertise than regular customer service. These folks used to be (probably still are) located in Texas, but you reach them through regular customer service. :idea:
