As we got confirmed now, at least the first series of the to be released SGH-i300 is definitely working with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition instead of Windows Mobile 5.0 which has some serious advantages over 2003 SE. So the question is, if the i300 is outdated already, right before it hits the stores and the simple answer is yes - if you just follow the feature-sheet."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Kris-Oct05-samsungi300ii.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />Samsung SGH-i300 may not ship with Windows Mobile 5.0 but it seems like Samsung has done a decent job in positioning it as a music Smartphone. It features stereo Bluetooth headset profile, faster data transfer through USB 2.0 and better sound thanks to SRS WOW. 8) Check out the second part of the SGH-i300 review and let us know if you are as impressed as Arne is with this Smartphone.

True, they have really put a lot of work into making this a music device. However, I'm still a little peeved about the older OS. I wonder how Microsoft feels about this phone shipping without WM5? Since it was the premire device at the WM5 launch and all. :?

This is what happened:

Engineer: Boss, we won't be able to meet the deadline.
Pointy Hair Boss: Aaa, Why?

Engineer: Microsoft just gave us the final bits for WM 5.0. We need to test it out.
Pointy Hair Boss: What if put in extra people and cut the test requirements.

Engineer: We will go down like the Motorola MPx220.
Pointy Hair Boss: What is WM 5.0 good for?

Engineer: Better UI. Under hood improvement for third party developers.
Pointy Hair Boss: What's there for our enterprise customer?

Engineer: In the future WM5.0 will...
Pointy Hair Boss: Future?

Engineer: Microsoft is supposed to provide an update called MSFP. Once we integrate it into our phone and test it, the phone will be able to give BlackBerry a tough time.
Pointy Hair Boss: Future?

Engineer: End of the year.
Pointy Hair Boss: So we will have to re-test the phone software?

Engineer: Yes :-(
Pointy Hair Boss: Don't worry about WM 5.0. Ours is a music phone not a BlackBerry killer. Go with what we have.
