Ok I'm excited.

Which MS WM2k5 handsets or devices support UMTS? I haven't heard too much about SP devices supporting UMTS. So am I in for a dissapointment?

Not sure why you are excited. It doesn't appear that UMTS has much support in the States, where I thought you were. (Am I wrong?)

OK, so three of those are live now and the rest on the list on 1 Nov. Hope that helps you. Nothing within 500 miles of me. Have you looked at their rates BTW? http://onlinestorez.cingular.com/cell-phone-service/wireless-phone-plans/cell-phone-plans.jsp;dsessionid=CQWVAYREGLDYHB4R0HZSFFA?pflow=a&catid=2206800007

That's different than the $20 all you can eat Media Net I have. Don't know if you can sign up for the $20 Media Net, and if you have an Edge or UMTS device if you'll get those speeds

I was just kidding about the blankie thing - I used to do stand-up.

Yes, actually it helps me quite a bit. I'm a legacy blue. I will stay legacy blue as long as I can. They are offering a $59.99 all you can eat unlimited data plan. Prices may come down a bit with UMTS to hook early adopters. Not to mention Dell has plans to do a laptop with an embedded modem with Cingular's of HSDPA.

Yes, it helps me. I'm running a Sierra 775 during the day cuz my clients don't allow consultants to tunnel through their network. In the evening I'm on a hotel's wifi with my own wep travel wireless router. But I need connectivity and speed. UMTS will get me there.
Now, I also need a HSDPA enabled WM 2k5 handset and I'll be doin the mambo.

No sweat on the blankie thing  Guess I was a bit out of touch and the last thing I read about UMTS was Cingular canning the ATT effort.

I am glad it does you some good. I haven't even bothered looking for an EDGE device because that coverage is pretty spotty here. Some places I go, I'm lucky to even make voice calls, much less data of any sort. That's with Cingular..T-Mobile was worse.
