<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.cellphoneshop.net/hoforausm.html' target='_blank'>http://www.cellphoneshop.net/hoforausm.html</a><br /><br /></div>Back in late August we told you about a website called <a href="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9100">CellphoneShop.net</a> that has all sorts of accessories for your cellphones, including the Audiovox SMT 5600 and the Motorola MPx220. I ordered a spare battery, antenna, and a holster from the CellphoneShop.net. I've been using these products for a good couple weeks now, and I thought I would share my thoughts and a couple pictures of these items with you. We'll start things off with the Holster, and early next week we'll follow things up with the antenna, and finally the replacement battery. :) <br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-5600Holster-SideSide.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><i>The holster is light grey in colour which doesn't really match the Audiovox's colours. If you have one of the silver C500 models, then this won't be as big a deal for you.</i><!><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-5600Holster-Side.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><i>My only major concern with this holster - well any holster for that matter, is the clip at the top of the phone. Repeated use will cause the paint on the phone to scratch and wear off where the clip makes contact. :(</i><br /> <br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-5600Holster-Back.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><i>Check out this design! You can still take a picture without removing your phone from the holster. :)</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-5600Holster-SideBack.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><i>The plastic is fairly thick and has a good solid feel to it. All of the regular phone functionality is still accessible with the phone in the holster.</i><br /><br />If you're not happy with the case that came with your Audiovox SMT5600, then you should really <a href="http://www.cellphoneshop.net/hoforausm.html">check out this holster</a>. You can't go wrong, especially with a price of just $3.50.

Can the phone go on the holster backwards?

I'd really rather the screen face my body, rather than out... it looks like it'd be way to easy to get it scratched up that way...

Not just scratched, totally destroyed! This is a poor design. One nice jab and the screen is cracked.

No, the phone won't fit in backwards. The sides of the 5600 are tappered in, and this holster is made to match the phone. So, if you turn the phone around, you now have the widest side facing in, and the holster isn't designed to fit a wider 5600.

While it does open it up for a direct hit on the screen, the chances are pretty slim. If something was coming right at it, chances are it's more likely to hit than the phone.

I've got some old banged up phones that say otherwise

the real problem with this holster is that the pin that is pressed through the clip and that holds the spring has a BAD tendency to come out, as it is simply press fit and held in by friction. mine has come uot a number of times already. quite a poor design. i love the holster, but i am wondering how the mfr can be so ignorant of how to secure that pin. could easily have pounded on the opposite end a wee bit so the it spreads out. it's like that on both of mine. sheesh!

Oh, I see what you're talking about. The pin on mine, has one end with a flat head, and the other end is just normal. So, it could work it's way back out the one side. I might put a drop of Crazy Glue or something on one end. That might help prevent any problems. So far, I haven't had any issues with this. 8)
