My sync with Outlook on my laptop works great. The only complaint I have is that the phone stores too few messages. I have a 1GB card and would love to store about 400 MB in my inbox.

But, there is some algorithm that automatically purges stuff on the phone. I can't figure out this altorithm.

Does anyone know the rules that ActiveSync and the SmartPhone use to control the INbox size?

Thanks,

Your inbox isn't sync'ed to your memory card. So a 1GB miniSD won't effect the amount of data you can sync in your inbox.

I think you'll need to re-examine your requirements. I can't imagine that you must have all 400 mb of your inbox with you at all times. Usually, I find that the last day or 2 should do the trick. Anything else, and it can wait until I get back to my computer and my full (bloated) inbox. You can set your phone's inbox to pull down al the messages in the last x days and x bytes per message under the accounts settings. 8)
