Better yet, they’re aiming for a $200 price point (with a one year contract, natch) and probably won’t be crippling Bluetooth on the phone. Not sure what it’ll be called when it turns up on T-Mobile (it definitely won’t be called the Qtek 8310 or the HTC Tornado), but we did have a chance to play around with this phone for a few minutes yesterday. All we gotta say (for now) is that the QVGA display is totally slick."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Kris-aug05-tmobileusasmartphone.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />I don't want to jinx the chances by saying anything. :worried:

I was planning on moving to Cingular, for the sake of better coverage. But now I will stick around and even sign a one year contract. :P

Even though it is going to be on T-mobile, does anyone know if it is going to remain quad band?

(please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please)

Unfortunately Jerry, Motorola has let us all down. Now don't get me wrong; I am not down on the Q. But based on their record of the last 2 years I am expecting a device made of substandard parts wrapped in the cheapest plastic case they can produce. And then there is the firmware...

I know. I'm hoping anyway. :worried:

oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please don't let this die in the rumor bin... :|
I've been waiting so long to hear something like this... I am VERY cautiously optimistic...
If, however, this is true all I have to say is:

ITS ABOUT BLODDY TIME T-MOBILE

then I'd do the happy dance and run down to the nearest store and buy one.

Is it possible that HP is actually releasing this as the smartphone that is suppose to precede the the hw6500 release?

This is great news. My SMT-5600 is beginning to look worn... :D

Question: How will QVGA impact battery life? On of the OUTSTANDING aspects of the 5600 is the battery life.

From reading users' posts over at HoFo, T-Mobile is enabling 850mhz roaming on other networks, so I doubt that they'd disable the 850mhz band. 8O

Nokia has had Smart Phones for a while now, and they are great! Check out the 9500 Communicator (WiFi enabled, camera, etc.) It's essentially and mini-computer with a mobile phone option! Nokia is on the rise![/img]

Well, I haven't seen any news on release dates from anyone, but there seems to be an increased level of new device talk/reviews going on. Which leads me to think that these are getting really close. New devices start to hit the streets in October/November of last year. If history repeats... 8)

Ditto! I just got an SMT5600 (Cingular version) and unlocked it to use on T-mobile. I've been holding out on re-upping my contract for well over a year now waiting for the right phone to come along to recommit.

There are still couple of working days left. ;-)

Naah..I also don't have much hope. But I hope it is November. Because in December all my savings would be spent on gifts and won't have spare change. And in January I will be under a self imposed spending ban. :-( :-)
