I have the MPx220. Someone at the carrier that i got it from said that cingular is recalling them and that if i call them they'll send me a Audiovox SMT 5600 Smartphone. I was wondering to ppl who have this phone. Is it worth getting. from what i hear i think i would be a good one. and i know the mpx220 has had a lot of problems, this is my second and ive only had the first for about 6 months. feedback will be appreciated

There have been a number of reports of people getting the 5600 as a replacement when they called in about having MPx220 problems. You should be able to find numerous posts around here on it. However, the carrier is not recalling the MPx220. You have to call for a replacement, and even then they don't always offer it.
The MPx220 is a good phone, it's just suffered from some problems with the early ROM images. I think the phone is pretty stable now. At least, I would hope that it is, it's been out for almost a year. :)

Last week I called Cingular to complain about static I had in my phone when the earpiece volume was turned up. They sent me a reconditioned MPX 220 which seems to be working just fine. They never mentioned replacement with another brand phone and I didn't ask because I wanted to stay with the 220.
