What's up with that. Why would they sell it without a camera? Plus it is gonna be WM 2k3 SE.
Ahhh. I know it isn't a smartphone but I thought we'd like to discuss it anywaze.

the "no-camera" models are likely for corporate customers/users. as a consultant/contractor, i've worked for several clients that don't allow camera phones in certain areas. in fact i had to purchase a non-camera (non-smartphone) phone to work on-site for one client...they agreed to cover the cost. :D

I agree with Cortez's reasoning. I work for a defense contractor. Cameras on-site are a big no-no, unless you like wearing big silver bracelets

Hear, hear. I go too many places that don't allow cameras. That's why I carry a PPC and a Smartphone. The PPC has all my contacts, calendar, manuals, reference stuff, etc. When I get in, I can always use their phone, since mine was left in the car, with it's camera. I like the Smartphone because in a lot of situations it is more convenient because of it's size, and it has all the same info, and it has easy ubiquitous internet access. But it has the darned camera, and finding one without one isn't that easy.
BTW, I bet I can put my HP SD camera in the slot on that 6510 and take pictures, and then just leave the SD camera in the car.
The 2003SE thing though, probably makes it a non-player in my book at this point. Let's see what happens. This isn't on the list of things slated to get upgrades, but it wasn't on the list of things you could buy when the upgrade list came out either.

I agree with y'all about the camera thing. Lots of people have 2 handsets one with and one without. I don't mind switching to the sans camera for work.
I'd think they'd at least give us an option. Plus with Cingular, PDA handsets aren't insurable with Cingular's loclkine.

? HP does. 6510 without camera, 6515 with. The popular SDA is built in with and without camera models, though I've only seen the without on T-Mobile Germany's site. I think the option will become more standard as more and more restrictions come to light. I just hope sales run reasonably close to 50-50, so the OEMs don't decide one or the other isn't worth making and we go back to no choice.
I'd personnally vote for a very well integrated, but removable camera, so that those who want it can leave it on all the time, and those who don't can choose to leave it off, or remove it when neccessary.

I like that idea.
