I've found several posts recently about a new slider-style smartphone from Samsung that seems almost *perfect* for me (except that I'd prefer Windows Mobile 2005, of course).

Some links are:

and

Link to PDABlast page on m600 (http://pocketpc.pdablast.com/articles/2005/7/2005720-Samsung-M600-Smartphone-Arrives.html)

Some other sites have more photos, you can find them easily. Specs are:

Size : 102 x 52 x 25.4mm
Weight : 167g
Display : 262,000 Color TFT (240x320)
NW : cdma2000 1x EV-DO (800MHz)
OS : Windows Mobile 2003 SE for Smartphone
Chipset : Intel Bulverde PXA272 (520Mhz)
Camera moduel : 2 megapixel(flash)
Dual Speaker / SRS WOW
Mobile Banking
Voice Recognition / TTS
Bluetooth /IrDA /Remote control
External Memory : mini SD

Other than that weight (167 grams!!?? That's like, almost 5.9 ounces!! ouch!) and the exactly 1" thickness, this seems pretty idea for me (it's compact, it has a fast processor, decent rez camera, bluetooth, and a big 204x320 screen).

I do wonder why more companies aren't releasing phones with Windows Mobile 2005 though - did Microsoft release it mid-year or something?

If somebody has already posted this in announcements or something, feel free to move this post (@mods) - I did a quick search and didn't see any announcements about the m600 specifically (not to be confused with the i600, which I think is the clam-shell?)

Thanks...

It seems like it slipped under our radar. I will do a double check and post something shortly. :-)

NOTE: No EV-Do at PCS frequency. Don't think it will be relaesed in the US .

I think it is a KDM fill-in.
