That isn't necessarily bad news though because it seems there are new devices on the horzion. It also seems that the MPx220 is going to be around for a while after all. I can also confirm the August release of the iPAQ 6500 with EDGE/QWERTY/WM 2003 Pocket PC. That isn't all though, it looks like there are three more devices in the future (All listed for Octoberish time frame), and one really grabbed my attention. It is a Motorola (all I know), that has EGDE/QWERTY/WM 5.0 Smartphone. Anyone out there have any thoughts or insight onto what that may be?"</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-20050112-Cingular.gif" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />This is good to hear for those of use with Cingular. Not so much the first part but the last part. I'll ask the same question. What is this new device? Could it be some form of... THE Q :?:

Does the Q have EDGE? It will be super cool if does.

I would like to know if it will work like the way it is supposed to?

What happens to us who
own them and have at least 15 months to go on our two year agreements?

Did you really believe that cingular was going to carry that out dated phone for the full 24 months of your contract? They were almost a year (atleast more than 8 months after orange in UK) late to get it in the first place. They will still support the phone and make sure that the exchange by mail has enough of the refurbished ones in stock to see all through their contract period. After that, specifically after 2 years after they remove it from their sales channel they will stop supporting it. At that point you will be expected to upgrade the equipment. I know these are the things that you know for sure!

All I care about, is whether the device name starts with "HTC" and ends with either "Wizard" or "Universal". Not really interested on the Moto Q.

Sounds like they're talking about the Q. According to recent news, the Q will include EDGE.

Not surprised about Cingular's take on the 5600. They STILL don't have any instructions for the phone tech support people. Every time I have to call them with a phone issue, I have to tell them "Use the instructions for the Motorola MPX220, it's the same operating system" Most of them have never heard of the SMT5600. They were pretty late picking it up in the first place (that's Cingular for ya), so I'm not surprised that they would drop it before the end of the year.

Fair enough, however it would be nice to see it replaced with something like the C550.

I'm betting on the "Q".
