The file you download is binary so I couldn't tell what changes are made to your phone but it appears to be for Verizon branded i600's. Those of you who apply this let us know how it works for you. :)

I think this update has been around for a while (almost a year)...

...and I think it's only for 2002 devices (2003 devices don't need this update).

...and I also think this update doesn't unlock the privilege mode of the phone, it just unlocks a low-security section of the registry that was mistakenly locked when the phone was first released.

Thanks for that info. I never remembered seeing it when I had my i600.

If I remember correctly, it was simultaneously released with another patch that fixed the original problem with the caller ID display.

But, this patch is definitely worth mentioning because it fixes a major problem, and when it was first released, it wasn't too publicized, so there's a good chance there are users out there that didn't know about it. :)

Maybe some day they will release a patch to allow wifi and bluetooth SD cards to work! Yeah right!

Wow... Thanks for the heads up John. I had never heard of this patch either. But then again, I've never even see an i600 in person. 8)
