I buy a SMT5600 cellular phone in a Cingular Store in Puerto Rico last week, everything works fine.
I'm currently in Uruguay, South America where i stay almost 2 weeks every month and where i need the phone works well too.
There are 3 companies bringing GSM services in Uruguay, i have a GSM chip with a phone number aquired with a company named ANCEL.
The problem is: when i turn on the phone in the morning it takes signal and registered in the ANCEL network well, but when it looses (maybe in a garage or in an elevator) it never take signal again and stays in a "Home Service" state the rest of the day until i come back to my home again, restart the unit and finally it restore the signal to ANCEL again.
I try everything, i made a Hard Reset at work, etc but it doesn't work. When i try to go to the option "Find a New Network" the system show me the other 2 networks in Uruguay (Movistar, CTI) but it doesn't show ANCEL. At work there are almost 100 people with smartphones other than SMT5600 with ANCEL service without problems, in fact i try with mi GSM chip in another phone and works well.
The system don't allow me to switch to "Manual" network selection, only display the "Automatic" in the Network selection in the combo box.
What i need is an application that allows me to change manually the band, swith to 1800 manually and in that case i think the problem will be resolved.
