I've been researching software necessary to play DVD's on smartphones. So far, I've really only read about MOBILE MEDIA MAKER 1.3 and POCKET DVD 1.1.

Can you weigh in on your likes or dislikes of these 2 or suggest others?

Thanks

(I've been reading smartphone thoughts for about 9 months and recently took the plunge and bought myself a smt5600. Needless to say, I love it. Just about all I've learned has come from these forums or atleast started here. So a personal thank you to all the posters and especially the editors who feed our need for more Johnny 5 input)[/quote]

I ended up purchasing Pocket DVD Studio. I tried the trial version of a few of these and this one seemed the easiest to use. I've already put THE BIG LEBOWSKI on my SMT5600 and it looks and sounds great.

Cool. That's good to know. I haven't transfered any movies yet. It's one of those things on my long to-do list. ;)

Ya... I got lots of my movies and stuff ripped to my laptop already. I just need to encode them down to the miniSD card. It would be something different to do on the train. Instead of just listening to music all the time... :D

its a little time comsuming to encode to smarstphone thats why i have virtualdub process everything while im sleeping :)

if you have a nice system you can encode like the dickens but with laptops ive noticed its a pretty tedious task :)

That's why I CAPTURE instead of RIP. I have a cheapo TV tuner card in my docking station for my notebook and I can capture video directly from a DVD player attached to the TV tuner card and still use my notebook for other things while that is going on.

I can Rip a DVD on my laptop inside of 20 minutes. (I can't comment on the length of time to encoding it down to play on the Smartphone ;) ) And I can do work at the same time, Although, usually I'll just start it and go to a meeting or something. You should give DVD Shrink a try. It's great for ripping.
