Well when I went to the movies Friday, I saw my first Zune commercial. I had just got finished seeing the Gears of War commercial (don’t really like it, and had already seen it ) when surprise, surprise, I see Zunes on screen..."

Woody at Zune Corps reported seeing a Zune commercial before Man of The Year in a local movie theatre. It's great to see the Zune starting to go mainstream as it gets closer to the launch date, because it means when I say the word "Zune" people will start to have some concept of what I'm talking about. Brand recognition takes quite a while though, unless there's major mainstream exposure. The Zune team has to get a Zune on CSI, Desperate Housewives, or any other big TV show - that will get them some major brand recognition. I'm a bit surprised to see the movie ads though - much of the marketing up to this point has been solely focused on indy music bands and indy music blogs, and while that's fine to start things off, if they want to sell some serious numbers this holiday season, people need to know what the heck the Zune is.
