Don't wait for it to ever come back to cingular. I purchased one in December and now it will not charge...contacted cingulars exchange by mail and it is on back order for several weeks now.. also you cant purchase their insurance for it either. I have contacted several people and they even sent me a replacement that they never tested and it didn't work either.. and Motorola has it on back order on their website? ... I did end up buying the Audiovox SMT 5600 good phone but I really liked the voice commands built into the mpx 220.

Heard from Cingular yesterday and they said they are in the process of replacing my MPx220 with a Audiovox SMT 5600..
We shall see.....

Is that what they are trying to do now? Did they just offer that to you or did you ask for it?

No it was offered to me as a replacement.

So today not only did they they call they deliverd a brand new in the box Audiovox 5600 to my office.

WOW I am amazed.

The Audovox is selling less than what I paid for the motorola but I think the software is superior and windows media play 10 is a nice touch.

Overall I have to say again that Cingular has done a stand up job in this whole MPx220 fiasco.

the new firmware update for the mpx220 made me happy tho.

i still prefer the flip phone however. if only the audiovox was a flip phone, i would have gotten it as well. its a good phone i have to admit. i went back several times at the cingular store and each time i went i got closer to purchasing it but settled for the mpx220.... hahahaha...

but wid the new firmware, the mpx220 is definitely more fun to have...

:D

yes (Jerry) i can say the this latest ROM has improved the volume to the point where i don't have it set at max earpiece volume. overall OS performance is better/faster and no delays answering the phone with flip or headset. now if this isn't the official ROM, i wonder why? you gotta think that there's something wrong for Mr Moto to not release it. whatever it is, i have yet to encounter it (the problem). kinda makes me feel like i have a napalm-ROM on my phone just waiting to blow up! :).

I switched sides because of the MPx220....

Don't throw me out of the club but I bought a Treo650......

(waiting for riot to calm down)........

Okay I know shame on me...but I think shame on Moto for crating such a problem by rushing too many phones at one time!

I would take a chance switching mine to a 5600 if i could though. Might give it a try.

Thinking about doing the same thing. What are your initial impressions? Are you sync'ing it with Exchange?
