The pictures are pretty much the same as the ones that Kris showed us last week. I would be interested in seeing some of the things Kris wasn't able to show us like the MSN integration. That would be cool. Anyway, don't get your hopes up on an upgrade. Just because we are seeing pictures of Windows Mobile 5.0 running on a Audiovox SMT5600 doesn't mean that we will see it released.

I want!
I'm just getting bored with my 5600 and this would be the perfect diversion.

In an interview on msmobiles, the CEO of i-mate, suggests that the current phones, such as the Typhoon, do not have enough memory to run WM5.
Now, I know we are seeing pictures of a SMT5600 running WM5, but we don't know if a) it's a full featured version and b) what the performance is like - I mean, the less memory you have available in the device the slower it operates.
However, that said, it sure would be nice if an image leaked onto the web.

Agreed. From the screenshots I see 3.14MB free. Wonder what applications were running at the time?

Good point. We will be publishing more test results of the smartphone hardware with windows mobile 5 in it. I think that this one is rather "for developers to test their software with latest version of OS" than for end users....

Every one of the Microsoft developers at MEDC 2005 was carrying one of these phones running Windows Mobile 2005, and they seemed to be working just fine. From talking to the product managers, there are two builds of Windows Mobile, one for a smaller footprint ROM, one for a larger.
