As a developer who has spent the last 3 years committed to PocketPC and Smartphone despite the obvious opportunities on other platforms, I'm beginning to wonder - is windows mobile ever going to be on 100 million handsets like Microsoft said 2 years ago? I just talked to Jamdat about a distribution deal on my latest product, and the SVP told me that they put very little faith in windows mobile, and he doesn't think it will ever pervade the market. What do you all think? Is this phenomenon going to happen? I think it will, but I think MS has a LOT of work to do. I'm very curious to hear what you guys think.

I think we're on the verge of a massive mobile explosion, and Microsoft has been working really hard hoping to be in a good position for when this happens. I think all of us here think Magneto is going to play a big part in this growth.

Microsoft underestimated how slow the carriers are in adapting new handsets and changes. This alone, has had a huge factor in the growth, or lack there of gorwth, of the platform. By the time the phones and the patches get released, it's time for a new device. :(
