If it is encrypted it is obviously more secure. Of course Symantec has no other interest here other than the search for truth right? I mean they wouldn't want to lay the groundwork for more great bloated security software now would they?

I would bet that 9 times out of 10 "storing confidential information" falls into the category of email. That's what the majority of users who use personal devices (like myself) store relating to company information.
