So how does the latest version of the Smartphone compare to its predecessor?. Is the world's fastest car uncomfortable? Is the world's tallest building an eyesore? Is the world's latest Smartphone any good?"</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Kris-Apr2005-C550.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />I am sure everyone will agree that the SPV C500 has raised the bar for the Smartphones and now we are expecting a similar performance from the SPV C550. According to this Carphone Warehouse post, this Smartphone is expected to hit the market sometime in May, it will carry a 1.3 Mega pixel camera and extra buttons for the music player. <a href="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7699">Previous report</a> had stated that this Smartphone will have a QVGA screen (320 x 240 pixels). The hardware is the same as the <a href="http://smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7836">T-Mobile SDA II,</a> it makes me wonder, who will launch this Smartphone first? :)

I'm really starting to warm up to the idea of extra buttons for media player. I've been listening to music on my phone everyday for the last month or so, and while the expereince is good, it doesn't compare to a dedicated music player. The extra buttons would make a big difference.
I'm guessing it will be Orange, but who knows. :?

You could blow me away if Tmo (USA) will release this in May - they have never really taken the lead on anything here is the US. I'd love to see Cingular take this, but the article mentions GPRS which leads me to believe... not so.
Great phone - would love to look at things through that screen - we'll see who comes out with this in may - my money in on Orange too.

According to the Register (http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2005/04/15/cw_orange_spv_c550/), it will be Orange.
I would like to know if any other carrier is getting this great device. :P

Give me QVGA screen and get rid of that 1.3 mp camera chip to lower the cost. The VGA camera is noisy enough. Can't imagine how much worse the 1.3mp chip will be.

I don't like camera phones. But I think having a 1.3 Mega pixel will help. It is a decent resolution. And scaling a 1.3 Mega pixel image down to VGA level leads to sharper/better photos.
