The prospect seems some way off but even so mobile operators and security watchers are more than a little spooked. Job ode Haas, a researcher at security firm ITS, told delegates at the recent Black Hat conference in Amsterdam that client side browser exploits on mobile phones pose a serious risk. In theory, a successful compromise could be used to turn smartphone into proxies under the control of hackers, controlled over VIP connections."</i><br /><br />The last paragraph of this story exhibits a bit of naivety. Why would virus writers bother with smartphones? Just for fun I would reply. The main point made here is why mess with smartphones when you can just infect PC's? The people who do this do it for status quite often. Looking for a logical reason seems a bit silly to me. I think its coming to a smartphone near you soon.
