Now, access to all of that and more is found by just reaching into our pockets. "For a long time people have thought of information as being a destination," says Scott Shamp, director of the New Media Institute at the University of Georgia. "You had to go to a book, you had to go to a library, you had to go to a shaman. ... But now, with new mobile technology and wireless technologies, information is turning into a companion." In the Information Age having immediate access to data is fundamental to progress. In some cases the advances are serving to overhaul industries at a lightning-fast pace."</i><br /><br />I caught this on CNN over the weekend, and I found it really thought provoking. When I was a kid I used to love going to the record store, or talking on the phone. Now, I can do those things, and more, from anywhere in the world - wirelessly. It's really amazing how much things have changed in such a short amount of time. Check out the full list of 25 technological breakthroughs and let us know what you agree with or disagree with. :)

I agree that the Internet and wireless world is way up there, but it seems CNN is recycling. This list seems fairly similar to their Top 25 Innovations (http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/01/03/cnn25.top25.innovations/index.html) published on March 1. Is a "technological breakthrough" just a bigger "innovation"?

:? So a Breakthrough is somehow different than a Innovation? :? Alright....
