This Smartphone is based off the HTC Amadeus design which adds music control buttons to the front of the device. Currently there is no information about when we can expect this phone to make it's way to North America. :( In case you're interested, PhoneMag has a nice collection of Dopod pictures. Check them out here.

I love the iPod inspired styling. 8)

And this one has a mega pixel camera. :)

I wonder if T-Mobile has some kind of rights on this Smartphone that prevents HTC from selling/marketing it in North America and Europe. Or maybe that is why they have added a mega-pixel camera to make it a different model.

Ya, I'm a big fan of the styling. I could really use one of these in my Smartphone collection.

I believe the media buttons on the fascia is essential in increasing the popularity of smartphones. Its all about the newbies, and exposing functionality to people that may not be familiar with the platform. Thats were a reasonably selection of single purpose buttons are very important.

Ive heard people say that the keyboard is why the blackberry is very successfull. Not because of the ease of text entry, but because of the shallow learning curve.

When I see a phone with play and fast forward buttons I KNOW that the phone can play music easily, and is optimised for it. It makes a great difference to ease of marketing these features.

A very good point. I agree.

Manufacturers have been talking about gadget convergence: MP3 + Camera + Phone Book + Mail + ...... = Smartphones. And the convergence does make the usage difficult and involves making trade-offs. The extra buttons will surely help convince the music lover segment that this Smartphone can handle tunes.

Wow, product after product, HTC proves themself is a legit quality cellphone maker. Don't know if they will keep being a ODM, or eventually becomes a brand of itself to compete with Nokia nd Motorola and etc.

Hopefully, when this phone are selling in US, my existing plan will expire and I can get this phone free or for a small amount after rebate. Is this phone using 240x320 screen?

Looks like the whole button will backlit, like those landline phones, instead of just the number or icons. I prefer the latter though. Looks like the media buttons are not backlit.
