I posted a thread a few days ago about my cradle at the MoDaCo forums and it seems to have generated a bit of interest. I wanted to see what everyone here thought about it. Please find photos and my post at the MoDaCo thread here:

I just wanted to show you guys my C500/SMT5600 cradle that I made. It's a free-standing style cradle. It stands on a slight angle with footings or completely vertical without. It holds the phone firm, works great and I've been using it for about 3 months now. It took awhile to come up with the idea, fabricate the parts and to put everything together but it was definitely worth it! It’s made from plastic and molded rubber.

I can't tell, is there feet on the bottom of it? It looks like there might be.

Yep there are two tiny feet on the bottom if you wanted the slight tilt or take it off and it will stand fully vertical.

How easy would it be for me to modify this so that the cable is a power cable and not a USB sync cable? I sync over bluetooth, and would prefer to have a charge cable on the cradle.

Doing it yourself may not be possible internally because the rubber base is bonded with the plastic housing but if you don’t mind connecting the cradle and AC Adapter at the external USB cable then it’s possible to do it yourself. Or you can send me your AC adapter and I can build a custom cradle for you. Email me if you wish to do so. Thanks!

Prior to 'specialized' posting in this forum I found his page and placed an order what follows is a mini review of the digimission typhoon cradle.

My overall impression is positive, the cradle works well for both charging and syncing. The cradle footprint is small and doesn't take up allot of desk space. The black cradle and cable blends well with the black and silver color scheme of the audiovox SMT-5600.

Digimission maintained good communications with me during the order/shipping process. They acknowledged my Paypal payment and followed up with a shipping notice email once the item had shipped. The item shipped within two days of sending my payment. Unfortunately the regular shipping from Canada to the Midwest took nearly two weeks from the time the order was placed.

What I didn't like: The only thing holding the phone to the cradle is the mini usb connector that protrudes from the cradle there is nothing else to support the weight of the phone (so far it hasn't caused a problem).

In my opinion the cradle should be heavier and the two acrylic feet on the bottom of the cradle should be made of a softer/stickier material to keep the cradle from sliding. You can easily insert the phone into the cradle with one hand but the phone can not easily be removed with one hand. If you lift the phone straight up off of the cradle the cradle will come up with the phone, You must currently use your other hand to secure the base before removing the phone. The changes I suggest would assist in one handed removal by keeping the cradle from sliding around.

Thank you for the feedback! Shipping to the USA does for some reason take longer then any other destination, shipping to the UK normally takes only one week! I heard it because of US Customs and it depends on the terror alert level.
