By the way, I have 50 GMail invites, so if you want one, contact me. The problem is, POP3 access for Pocket PC users is spotty at best, and maybe for all POP3 users. It is in beta after all. I have to go to my GMail settings 3-4 times a week to enable POP3 because it mysteriously gets turned off. Confused Now, for me, GMail is a mostly a read only site. I have only a few contacts I correspond with using that address, so what I really need is a way to check my emails. Google has enabled RSS feeds to your account. For all I know, this feature is months old, but it was news to me and my favorite RSS reader on the Pocket PC supports RSS authentication so I tried it out."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/ChannelList.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />Our sister site has an interesting thread going about accessing your GMail using RSS feed. I got this to work on my MPx220 using NewsBreak with the same method described in this thread. Some have used other news readers and you can read about their experiences in the thread.

Note that Newsbreak 1.0.1 is required for this to work if that is your RSS reader. 1.0 doesn't support authentication.

It worked for me using the 1.0 smartphone version.

Interesting. Their site at http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/nw/newsbreak.htm states 1.0.1 specifically added support for GMail's RSS feed. Maybe they just tweaked it and now officially support it on that release. :)

Yeah I was wondering that same thing when I read the PPC 1.0.1 requirement which I also have working on my 4705. I just tried it again on the Smartphone version 1.0 and it works great. Maybe I did something wrong? :rotfl:

You don't know what GMail and RSS are? Or are you refering to 2 other things? :? :wink:

GMail = Hotmail
RSS = light weight text document that contains highlights of news posted on a given site.

Gmail is like yahoo or hotmail. Its just provided by google. It's actually pretty good. If you want a gmail account PM me and I'll send you an invite. It's the only way to get one now.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It works like this. You have sites like the one you are on now. Lots of them. Most of them offer RSS feeds. Those that do you can put in a reader like the one above and update and browse them all at once in one place. Usually just a summary.

In this case GMail is allowing you to see email summaries in what is essentially a news reader. I hope that makes sense. :)
