That is a pretty nice list of features and a pretty attractive looking phone. However, it seems to be missing Bluetooth from the list. :? They can pack all that other stuff in here, but they are not able to fit Bluetooth in?

For the record, Newgen appears to be a manufacturer like HTC. Which means, we'll need a vendor to pickup this phone, and then a carrier to offer it. We may never see it hit the street. :(

For the size of the keypad it looks like there is alot of wasted space. They could have fit a thumb board similar to the blackberry one that has 2 letters per key. Too bad they missed the boat on bluetooth, looks like the perfect smartphone that could have been.

As for the 400mhz processor, it sounds nice. But when do you cross the line between processing speed and battery life. Wouldn't a 400mhz processor suck juice like crazy?

Strangely, I think the biggest plus may end up to be the biggest minus. Current smartphone s/w (if written and !tested! properly) should work fine on the QVGA screen. Any place in your code that makes assumptions about screen size (the old 176x220) may exhibit some interesting behaviour. I suspect we will see this more and more as we see more devices moving toward bigger and better screens.

I would almost guarantee it won't appear in the states.

Well, it is 900 and not 850Mhz. Although, I could live with that trade off - if I got WiFi and QVGA.

Even with no Bluetooth?

The only thing I use Bluetooth for right now is Sync'ing. So yes, I could pass on it. I would rather have Bluetooth, but the lack of it would jsut force me to setup Exchange OTA Sync, and use WiFi. 8) I could get by without Bluetooth, if I had to.

I don't think I could give up BT for headsets, but this device looks pretty sleek...

Yeah that is my main use of BT. I could also live without it for syncing.

no bluetooth no sale. simple as that. in this day and age there is no reason an "advance" phone should be coming out with out bluetooth.

Ultimately I feel the same way. :)

If Bluetooth was implemented on the Smartphone in the same manner as my iPAQ, then I would have a different attitude. That's not the case, and since Bluetooth on the Smartphone is so messed up, I can live without, until they fix things.

The Mitac Mio 8390 has a 400MHz Xscale processor, and I didn't have any problems with mine in terms of battery life. Not quite as good as my SMT 5600, but boy, that 8390 is faaaaaaast!

With the i-Mate JAM, there is now no reason for me to go the way of a Smartphone. If/when the JAM get's WiFi and 128MB, that will be all she wrote for me!
