I saw this phone on cingular site and thought it should definitely be a smartphone. I love the qwerty keyboard and the mpx220 not having one is the only drawback I can find with the phone now. Besides the camera.

Cigular's web site uses sessions - long story short, that link doesn't work.

What phone was it? Was it the Voq - Smartphone with a foldout keyboard? or some other device?

Oh sorry. IT was teh LG9100.
I guess they are using them on American Idol but its a candy bar phone that a full qwerty keyboard slides out of the side. Sort of like sliding glass doors and when its open the screen goes landscape.

Depending on the depth of the phone I think i would love this better than my mpx220 all else being equal.

I played with one while visiting a Cingular store today. It's ridiculously thick & bulky, slide out thumb board seems awkard. I do think it's neat concept, only if it comes in the same form factor as the SMT5600 (read: thinness & w/ a large LCD).

Here's the first user review of this device on amazon.com:

The slide keyboard kept sliding open in my pocket which was awkward, and this phone is uncomfortably thick. And it claims to have a wide range of Java games available, but when I went to d/l some new games, there were only about 6 available. 6 is not wide range.

It's ugly too.

Cant make any calls on it . . . I would have to fiddle with it for awhile before making any conclusions.

That's an interesting problem. Does the PDA2K suffer from this too? if not, then what is the difference between the 2 different mechanisms?
