Hi guys!

I just won an i-mate SP3i Smartphone (http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=I-MATE_SP3I_US%20) (Qtek 8020) or a HP iPAQ h4150 Pocket PC (http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=107956) (I get to choose). I already have both a SmartPhone (Qtek 7070) and a PocketPC (Toshiba E755). Since the i-mate seems to be more state of the art than the iPAQ and my Qtek 7070 definitely could need a replacement, I am leaning towards having the SmartPhone.

Anyway, I have a couple of quick questions:
1.Does Windows Mobile 2003 SE support the Scandinavian letters æ, ø, å (I'm Norwegian but study in the U.S.)? On my Qtek 7070 I had to find a Danish ROM upgrade to get those characters, something I doubt I'll find anytime soon for the i-mate.
2.Since it's a tri-band phone it should work ok when I get back to Norway, right? The Qtek 7070 worked in Norway and I'm using it here too (Cingular) so I'm guessing it's the same thing.
3.Is it possible to use normal headphones on the i-mate when listening to music? Maybe using a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter or something?

Thanks in advance!

I have SP3i and love it. And I am sure you will like it.

Here are some answers...
1. After buying the phone you can visit www.clubimate.com and download the firmware/ROM with the language pack that you need. I am pasting the info from the Club i-mate site, that gives the details of the various language pack ROMs.

- Operator : 1.1.33.21 for English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish and Italian Languages and GSM 900/1800/1900 operation

- Operator : 1.1.33.22 for English, Romanian, Czech, Hungarian, Turkish, Polish and Slovak Languages and GSM 900/1800/1900 operation

- Operator : 1.1.33.23 for English, French, German, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian Languages and GSM 900/1800/1900 operation

All three versions offer the same functionality; it is only the supported languages that is different between them.

2. Can't comment much. I know it will work. Cingular operates on both 850 and 1900. Depending on the SP3i you will get, you will get access to both bands or not. SP3i comes in US Version 850/1800/1900 and Euro version 900/1800/1900. I have Euro version on T-Mobile.

3. Yes. I use it all the time. Get an adapter and you will be okay. A hint. The regular 2.5 to 3.5 won't do. Make sure that the one you get has four points. Standard ones have only three (ground/left/right) and SP3i uses (ground/left/right/mic).

That's great news - thanks Kris!
I just sent an e-mail saying that I'll take the SmartPhone :D

Do you have any suggestions on where to get the 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter?

Now I guess I'll have to buy a mini SD card (this looks like a good deal (http://www.ecost.com/ecost/ecsplash/shop/detail.asp?dpno=511348)), a bluetooth dongle and a screen protector. I've heard the Javoedge screen protectors (http://www.javoedge.com/simtrix/productMtce/jsp/productListScreen_iMate.jsp) are good, but as for the bluetooth dongle I'm clueless...

Your local radio shack is one place. Otherwise, you could look at Pocket PC Techs. I think they carry one.

I just bought this one yesterday!

Sorry, I can't offer anything on a Bluetooth dongle. My laptop has it built in.

I got mine at PocketPCTechs. If you a buying it at Radio Shack, make sure that the adapter is a 4 point one.
