The Motorola MPx220, exclusively available from Cingular, is the company's newest smartphone that uses the latest Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system. The quad-band world phone (850/900/1800/1900) gives customers the ability to access Microsoft(R) Outlook applications such as e-mail (with attachment viewing), contacts and calendar information, and comes equipped with many enhanced features such as Bluetooth, an integrated 1.2 megapixel camera, Mini SD card slot capable of adding a 512MB memory card and a Windows Media Player, allowing customers to enjoy music and video playback"</i><br /><br />We've been seeing a lot of reports lately that the MPx220 was available from the Cingular stores. So I guess this is just the official statement. If you haven't already got one, you will be able to pick it up from any Cingular outlet for $299.99 with a two-year contract and $349.99 with a one-year contract.

Don't forget to register your phone either. While I'm sure that 1000 people have probably already registered, here's the link (you might be able to get a free bluetooth headset!!)

Just make sure when you get it it has at least ROM version 1.30. Make them fire it up and show you the version with the phone on!

I second that. Don't let them fool you with the colorful stickers. ;-)

The Mpx220 I got last night went back today it keep shutting down so I got a new one and so far no issues at all. It was a previous .325 updated to 1.3. The one I returned was a .342 updated to 1.3. So maybe there is happiness now. It works well my apps are loaded and I am happy.

I ordered mine from Cingular last Thursday and received it today. Just finished going through the activation and initial setup. So far so good. Only glitch was the manual for the Jabra BT250 I also ordered was missing, fortunately thanks to the web I was able to find it online and successfully paired it with my phone.
With regards to the version here's my info:
Operator: 0.250.1003.0
Manufacturer: 1.30.0.0
Microsoft: 4.21.14315.0
Language: 0.150.0.0
File System: 4.21.14315.0
Now I have a question. I've been trying to figure out where a file goes when beamed to it via infared. I've beamed data over from my PocketPC and it says it successfully transferred, but I can't figure out where on the phone it ended up.

You should look for it in the "My documents" folder i.e. "Storage\My Documents". ;-)

Thanks Kris. I finally found it via ActiveSync from my desktop. I was trying to copy my Exchange Server certificate down to the Smartphone so I could "click" on it and install it the way I've been able to do this on my PocketPC. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this is going to work as the File Viewer doesn't "see" the file. I'm guessing it has no clue what it is, so now I'm off to try and figure out how to install a certificate on a Smartphone. So much for all that PPC expertise I've accumulated
At least it came in very handy getting started. I had everything pretty much figured out and was starting to work with the phone in minutes. Pretty intuitive interface. I can't wait until tomorrow, my first full day using it.
UPDATE: Well some more digging and I discovered there's "File Manager" as well as "File Viewer". With "File Manager" I was able to successfully install my certificate by selecting it, so now I'm successfully syncing over GPRS!! Time to do some additional tinkering with the menu options and GASP read the manual! 8O

OK, So what issues appear to have been fixed? Earpiece /speakphone volume, camera, etc.? Any new issues crop up?
Inquiring minds need to know!
Thanks.

I too was confused a bit by the "File Viewer" and "File Manager". :-)

Can we create folders in SmartPhone like we can in WindowsMobile PC and move the shortcuts to the folders. I would rather have 5-7 folders than 5 pages of apps listed.

Yes you can. I have done that for the ClearVue Suite of apps. ;-)
Go to the folder "\Storage\Windows\Start Menu" and create a sub-folder and move the appropriate .lnk files into the newly created folder.
Only concern, when you uninstall the app, the shortcuts will not get removed. So remember to manually remove the shortcut links from the folder. :-)

This little program will do a nice job of arranging your start menu too :)
