All Headsets Created Equal?

Well, I've been looking for a stereo headset with a 2.5mm jack.

I went into a Sprint store and saw that they had one with mic - it looked like just what I wanted.

After I connected it, the phone only gave me mono output in my left ear.

Also, the mic doesn't work.

How many differnt connector types are their?

The connector may look the same, but the wiring might be different. Unfortunately manufacturers do not stick with a standard wiring for the pins.

I guess there is no harm in trying out a headset for a different brand or from a different manufacturer.

Or hopefully one of the readers know which headset manufacturer makes compatible headsets.
