While watching The Apprentice on TV tonight I witnessed the first commercial announcing the merger between Cingular and AT&T. Curious, I jumped on the internet to the AT&T wireless website, and sure enough the Cingular logo and announcement were posted on the website with FAQ's and presentations regarding what the merger meant for current AT&T customers (I'm one). I have been the owner of a MPX200 since they first hit in October of 2003 and have been waiting for AT&T to offer the MPX220's to their customers. I accessed the 611 number and the announcement also mentioned the merger. I jumped on to try and see if the MPX220 was available. The AT&T rep was not knowledgeabe concerning the MPX200 let alone the MPX220. In any event I'm waiting for the email from Motorola and AT&T regarding availability in order to get the Bluetooth headset offer.

I was impressed to see the commercial. Cingular and AT&T "were" working to make the merger happen.

It will take them some time to merge the product lines and plans. That is what the AT&T store guy said. And the MPx220 they will be getting will be AT&T branded (and not Cingular). I was told it was going to happen sometime this week. But then from experience and you suggested, we cannot really depend on what the AT&T folks say. And will have to wait for the e-mail. ;-)

If you are not interested in a clam-shell. I must suggest the Audiovox SMT5600 Smartphone on AT&T.
